The Ardbeg 24 Years Old Vintage_Y2K 2025 marks the second ultra-rare release in the Millennium Vintage series, following the acclaimed 23-year-old edition. Distilled in the year 2000 — a pivotal moment in Ardbeg’s history after the distillery’s revival and modernization — this whisky was produced using the iconic still that ran for 51 years before being retired in 2001. For this release, Dr. Bill Lumsden matured the spirit in a combination of hand-selected Amontillado sherry casks and classic bourbon barrels. The result is a remarkably complex, nutty-smoky Ardbeg with notes of soft toffee, almonds, tobacco, tarry smoke, antique leather, and currant blossom. The palate delivers intense peat power with coal tar, woodsmoke, medicinal lozenges, campfire embers, and subtle sherry warmth, before unfolding into a long finish of menthol, eucalyptus, linseed oil, and charcoal.
